Corban Hempel

Hello, my name is Corban Hempel, otherwise known as Carbon, Mr. Smiley, Corbanzo beans, College boy, Roy G. Biv, Calvin, or Carb (and a few more that have escaped me). I started coming to Sky View when I was 12, back in 2013, when I was old enough to participate in the workdays held at the ranch. Since then, I have been able to participate more frequently in events and lessons at the ranch, including formally volunteering for the past three years.

I am very excited that I get to be a part of the staff team this year here at Sky View. In the years that I have been involved with Sky View, I have seen how much the love of God and the power of the Holy Spirit can impact the lives of the children that come. To be a part of this in a new level is a privilege that is amazing. My prayer is that I can be a vessel used by God for the glory of His name.

A few of my favorite things are:
The outdoors. I really love being outside in God’s wonderful creation, and as a biologist, I get to see his amazing design in everything around me. I play sports, hunt, fish, backpack, hike, campout with friends, and basically anything in any type of weather (excluding hurricanes and tornadoes because I have never been in either phenomenon). Food. As a human, I have a hardwired need for sustenance, but I have an enjoyment that goes beyond a need. However, I have a deep disgust for chocolate and hate the taste of it! Music. Since a very young age, I have had great appreciation for music, and both listen to it and make it. I mainly play the guitar, but I have learned the piano, hammered dulcimer, and bagpipes.
