Hey, I’m Emma! I’m one of the newest and definitely the youngest staff member here at Sky View and I’m SO thrilled to be here!
I first came up to Sky View for a work day about five years ago – there was a lot of fence walking, weed pulling, nail hammering, and laughter. I fell head over heels in love with the place and the people I met here. My philosophy has always been that life is to be lived vibrantly, accompanied by lots of laughter, adventure, and most importantly, Jesus. All of this I found at Sky View, and 9 times out of 10, I don’t want to leave at the end of the day. I left the work day that overcast day in May and knew I had to come back. Sufficiently smitten with the place, I began volunteering there the summer of 2015. By the next summer I was already counting down the months until I could staff – I love horses, I love kids, and I love to teach. But as much as I longed to staff, I thoroughly enjoyed volunteering. Running around with kids, playing hide and seek with the cat, soaring on the saddle swing, or simply trekking through the woods and blackberries on an ‘adventure’ – it was (and still is) my favorite part of the week.
But more than just a good time, Sky View became a refuge for me, a place where I could come, love, and be loved. It became a thrilling, challenging classroom where God taught me some of the most valuable life lessons I’ve learned. When the darkest storms threatened to overcome me, I could drive up the gravel driveway to Sky View and find shelter. Every fear, trial and heartache were left at the gate, unable to follow me in. Jesus has sustained me in my most difficult moments at Sky View, and it is through my time here that I have learned to trust Him more fully.

A little bit about me:
I’m the oldest of 6 kids and I have the most amazing parents ever (I love my family a whole lot). Words are very meaningful to me, which means reading, writing, deep conversations, and long cards. Meandering, unhurried walks, good hugs, unabashed laughter, huge smiles, exuberant singing, and good-natured camaraderie makes my heart happy. I put way too much salt on my food and Tic Tacs and chocolate makes me sneeze. Speaking of chocolate, if it isn’t dark, don’t even bother. ;) My friends mean the world to me and I love getting to do life with them. I am head-over-heels for the gorgeous state I live in and I’m always down for an adventure outdoors – be it hiking, rafting, swimming, camping or just walking along the beach – as long as it’s outside and with good friends, I’m in. I want to travel the world and my heart longs to be involved with missions someday. Above and beyond all this, I love Jesus with the entirety of my heart. He is my Lord, my Savior, and my closest Friend. It is only by Him and through Him that I am able to do what I do here at Sky View.
