Rebecca Swayze

When I was 14 I was given a book by Kim Meeder, Hope Rising by a mentor in my life. That is when I discovered that I could put two of my biggest passions, kids and horses together to glorify God and to share His love.
I was always a little horse crazy but I didn't get the opportunity to ride horses until I was 13. I had some neighbors take me under their wing and teach me how to ride. They became my "Horse parents" and godly role models in my life.

I have done a lot in my horse career from competing in 4-H and reining (reining is a type of western riding similar to English dressage) horse shows. Riding up at a friend's ranch, working, gathering or just checking on the cows on the beautiful mountainous Stack Rock Ranch. I have worked at one of the Northwest biggest Reining Cow Horse training and breeding facilities. But my all time favorite thing I have done is when I was a full time volunteer at Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch. This is the ranch that the true stories in the Book Hope Rising came from and is a similar Ministry to Sky View.
I met my husband during my time at Crystal peaks, and moved to Oregon where I am able to use the skills I have learned at this exciting new ministry. I am thrilled to see where God takes us.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love hanging out with my husband and little girl. I also enjoy being active by playing sports and going hiking. I like being creative with sewing, crocheting, jewelry making and paper crafts.
What is one interesting fact about you?
Have hiked the third tallest mountain in Oregon. The South Sister gains 4,900 feet in 5.5 miles. At its peek it stands at 10,358ft. Also have a "few" stories of my watermelon infatuation.
What is something that you're passionate about
doing outside of the ranch?
Being the wife and mother the Lord desires me to be and continually being transformed into those roles.
